'''''Castle of Tharoggad''''' is a 3D graphical dungeon crawl game inspired by the smashing critical and popular success of ''[[Dungeons of Daggorath]]''. While not explicitly acknowledging or mentioning its legendary predecessor, it is obviously a "spiritual sequel" or honorary sequel, given that "Tharoggad" is "Daggorath" spelled backwards.

'''''Tharoggad''''' tries to improve on '''''Daggorath''''' by using filled in graphics rather than wireframes, and in full color.  It also uses mouse driven control clicking on on-screen icons rather than typing in an apparent attempt to be more user-friendly and advanced.

However, the game was poorly received by critics and users.  The author wrote a letter to ''The Rainbow'' responding to its critical review. [https://archive.org/details/rainbowmagazine-1989-01/page/n5/mode/1up]

Somewhat similar to the superb "[[Dungeons of Daggorath]]", Castle of Tharoggad is completely mouse driven.

Even when it used the CoCo 3 specific graphic modes, it is considered to be inferior to DoD not just in graphics, but also in sound and playability.
